    Candice Cox, LMHC, NCC

    Candice is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Iowa. She has over 12 years experience working in mental health. Candice has experience working with individuals and families to address a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and relational issues including depression, stress-management, anxiety, grief and loss, and trauma. Special interests include the treatment of anxiety disorders, life transitions, post-traumatic stress disorder, and the care of soldiers, veterans and military families.

    Candice works with individuals (16+) using an integrative, person-centered, strengths based approach. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness Techniques, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Candice has also completed training with Dan Hughes for Attachment Focused Family Therapy and Deb Dana in Polyvagal theory.

    Candice is a Nationally Certified Counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). 

    Candice holds her 200hr Yoga Teacher certification and is currently working on completing training in trauma-informed yoga.

    Jenn Nethery

    Certified Eating Psychology and Mind Body Nutrition Expert

     

    Jenn trained at the Institute for the Psychology of Eating (IPE), the world’s leading school in Nutritional Psychology where she received certification in IPE’s internationally acclaimed program.  The curriculum of cutting-edge tools and protocols enables her to work with weight issues, body image challenges, overeating, binge eating, and a variety of nutrition-related health concerns such as digestion, fatigue, mood, immunity, and more. Her holistic approach combines the powerful new fields of Dynamic Eating Psychology and Mind Body Nutrition to help clients reach their highest goals.

     

    Jenn addresses challenges with food and health through a combination of practical coaching techniques, results-oriented psychology, clinical nutrition, body-centered practices, mind body science, and positivity and compassion. She explores eating and health concerns as opportunities for growth and self-improvement, helping clients not by strategies that punish, but strategies that nourish.

    As an owner and instructor of Farrell’s Extreme Bodyshaping, a fitness studio in Dubuque, Iowa, Jenn coaches hundreds of members along their healthy journeys, combining exercise with proven nutrition guidelines and Mind Body eating techniques.  Jenn’s combination of fitness studio experience and Dynamic Eating Psychology education allow her to combine the best strategies to focus on what’s right for your personal style.

    Kim Heiar, LMHC,LPC,NCC

    Therapist

    Kim is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor In both Iowa and Wisconsin (LMHC, LPC, NCC) with a trauma endorsement in the state of Iowa.  Kim formally taught science in the public school system. She has experience working with individuals, couples and families.  Kim’s special interests include the treatment of anxiety disorders, sexual assault, life transitions, PTSD, adolescent concerns and couples therapy.

    Kim works with couples and individuals (12+) using an integrative, person-centered, trauma-informed approach. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness Techniques, Adult and Adolescent Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Gottman Couples Strategies.

    Kim is a Nationally Certified Counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). 

    Kim has successfully completed Level 1 and Level 2 of The Gottman Method for couples therapy.

    Lincoln aka Linc

    Meet Lincoln (Linc), the registered therapy dog, who frequents the office with his best friend Kim Heiar, to provide canine companionship to our clients. Linc is a hypoallergenic Goldendoodle who enjoys providing affection, comfort, and support to our clients. Linc has grown up in a loving yet busy Midwest family exploring and thriving as a member of their family and participating in a variety of activities and frequently meeting new people. While Linc is a great companion for anyone who loves canine support, he seems to particularly skilled at working with our adolescent clients. His mellow temperament and eagerness to please makes Linc a calming and relaxing presence in the therapy setting.

    Linc holds his therapy dog certification, is a Good Canine Citizen sponsored by the American Kennel Club and holds the Trick Dog Certification from AKC. Linc is currently working on his contact hours to reach his goal of becoming a AKC Distinguished Therapy Dog earning him the Therapy Dog Distinguished Title, (THDD).

    In his spare time, Linc enjoys activities with his human family, dreaming of someday catching that neighborhood squirrel and spending time with his elderly canine brother who is a mixed rescue.
